A BRAND NEW CURRICULUM IS HERE!

STARBASE staffers from across the country are actively working to develop dozens of brand new hands-on lessons for the 2009-10 school year. At the national level, STARBASE is adopting a new standardized curriulum with a strong emphasis on STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. We invite you to visit our website throughout the year for updates on our progress.

THE DoD STARBASE WEBSITE IS UP AND RUNNING!

Do you want to learn more about STARBASE?  Or maybe you want to see what STARBASE students in other parts of the country are doing.  Check out the new DoD STARBASE website for information, photo galleries, and a bunch of cool links for kids!

Vision Statement
To raise the interest and improve the knowledge and skills of at-risk youth in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, which will provide for a highly educated and skilled American workforce that can meet the advanced technological requirements of the Department of Defense.

Mission Statement
By exposing youth to the technological environments and positive role models found on military bases and installations, we will provide 20-25 hours of  exemplary instruction, using a common core curriculum that meets or exceeds the National Standards.  We will nurture a winning network of collaborators and build mutual loyalty.

PTC PRO/ENGINEER IS HERE!

STARBASE students will experience engineering first-hand as they use our new state of the art PTC PRO/ENGINEER software to explore the exciting field of 3-dimensional computer-aided design.  Students will use the software to design 3-dimensional objects.  Then, with the help of our Dimension 3-D Printer, will produce a plastic prototype of the object they designed.  How's that for high-tech?
